Our Favorite Place to Eat
Restaurants
Croatia is filled with wonderful restaurants, family-run konabas and hidden culinary gems, and we're always excited to discover new favorites on each Croatian Adventure - and revisiting these favorites.

Stari Kotac
Zagreb / Our Favorite BBQ Place
If you want to experience authentic Croatian barbecue, this is the place.
Rather than ordering individual meals, we recommend doing what we did—order several platters family style and share everything around the table. From perfectly grilled ćevapi and sausages to pork, chicken, and all the traditional sides, every dish arrived fresh from the grill and full of incredible flavor.
It's hearty, authentic, and exactly the kind of meal that brings everyone together.
What to order: Mixed BBQ platter, ćevapi, grilled meats, ajvar, onions, lepinja.

Al Dente
Zagreb / Our Favorite Pizza Place
Pizza?
In Croatia?
Absolutely.
Yes, pizza may have originated in Italy, but after eating it throughout Croatia, we've become convinced the Croatians have perfected their own version.
Pizza is one of our favorite meals while traveling because it's quick, affordable, and easy after a day of exploring.
Of all the places we've tried, Al Dente stands out as our favorite.
The crust, fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced flavors made it a meal we'll happily return for every time we're in Zagreb.
Sometimes the simplest meals become the most memorable.

Boket 78
Bol, Brac Island / Our Favorite Island Dining Place
Some restaurants are memorable because of the food.
Others because of the atmosphere.
Boket 78 gave us both.
We discovered it almost by accident while wandering through Bol, and after one dinner we knew we'd be back the very next evening.
The rooftop terrace creates an unforgettable setting, especially as the sun begins to set and sparrows dart overhead while guests linger over dinner.
The lamb was exceptional.
The truffle pasta was unforgettable.
This wasn't just one of our favorite meals in Croatia—it was one of our favorite dining experiences anywhere.

Krespo Bar
Kastela / Our Favorite Breakfast Place
Before visiting Croatia, we had no idea just how many ways you could enjoy a palačinka.
Sweet.
Savory.
Breakfast.
Dessert.
Krespo Bar became one of our favorite breakfast places in Croatia.
From chocolate and banana creations to savory versions filled with pancetta and cheese, every visit gave us another excuse to come back.
We've eaten here more than ten times—and we'll happily make the drive again.
That's probably the best recommendation we can give.

Torkolo Restaurant
Rovinj / Our Favorite Seafood Place
Here's the funny part.
We don't usually order fish.
But Torkolo completely changed our minds.
Everything was beautifully prepared, lightly seasoned, and allowed the freshness of the ingredients to speak for themselves.
It reminded us of something we've learned throughout Croatia.
The cooking isn't about covering food with heavy sauces.
It's about enhancing fresh ingredients.
This meal became one of the biggest surprises of our trip—and one we'll never forget.
