Apartment MiraMare (Split)
Our Stay at Apartment MiraMare
Apartment MiraMare was our home base in Split for three nights ahead of our small-ship cruise, and it met many of our must-haves: a first-floor apartment, parking, a washing machine, and a location near the sea within walking distance of the Riva and Diocletian’s Palace. The apartment itself was beautifully modern, spotless, and clearly well cared for — it felt newly renovated and thoughtfully equipped.
The kitchen was well stocked and perfect for making breakfast each morning, and the comfortable bed made for restful nights. The villa overall felt a bit dated, and the outdoor area was very rustic, which gave it some character but meant there wasn’t really a comfortable spot to sit outside or hang beach towels. The property did have gated access to the sea, which gave us a lovely spot to sip morning coffee, watch the sunset, and stargaze in the evening. While the sea right outside the gate was rocky and not ideal for swimming, there was a nice swimming beach just a few minutes’ walk away along the sea.
Parking was available, though the entrance to the driveway was very narrow and best suited for a compact car. The property was about a 20-minute walk to Split’s Riva and historic center, which was very manageable for exploring the city.
Overall, Apartment MiraMare checked nearly all of our boxes, but we did find ourselves missing an outdoor seating area or balcony and a place to hang beach towels and clothes to dry. While it was a bit on the pricey side, it offered a clean, quiet, and comfortable stay with a convenient location — just know ahead of time that outdoor space is limited if that’s important to you.
Adventurer Tip
Finding a place in Split often means choosing between being close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and the Riva — or staying beachfront. If you’re looking for a more relaxing seaside experience and authentic Croatian cuisine, we recommend staying in Kaštela, just a 20-minute Uber ride from Split’s city center. Dining along the Riva is beautiful, but much of the cuisine is catered toward American tourists with more Americanized fare, whereas Kaštela offers a more local and authentic dining experience.
