Beach Apartment Francesko Old Town (Dubrovnik)
Our Stay at Beach Apartment Francesko
For our long weekend exploring Rovinj on our journey down the Adriatic Coast, Riva Residence proved to be an excellent choice. We needed a two-bedroom apartment to accommodate Dennis, myself, and our cousin, and this property checked all the boxes: private baths for each room, a washing machine, and parking (though, as with most old towns, the parking was located just outside the center since vehicles aren’t permitted inside).
What made this stay truly memorable was the location. Set right on the Riva waterfront, we were surrounded by restaurants just steps away and enjoyed a beautiful sea view from the upper terrace. Inside, the apartment was spacious and modern, with a large kitchen, generous living room, and all the comforts we needed for a relaxing stay.
The only drawback was the number of stairs — two flights to reach the apartment, plus more stairs inside. While this is common in Old Town accommodations where elevators aren’t available, it’s something to keep in mind. For us, it was a minor inconvenience compared to the comfort, style, and unbeatable location. For our three-day stay, Riva Residence was a perfect base to enjoy the charm and energy of Rovinj.
Adventurer Tip
We hadn’t realized just how far Dubrovnik Airport is from Old Town — it’s easily a 40-minute to 1-hour drive depending on traffic. Next time, for a quick stay before flying home, we’d consider staying in Cavtat, a charming seaside town just 2 km from the airport. It’s typically more affordable than Old Town, you’ll save on transfer costs, and you can take a water taxi into Dubrovnik for a more authentic, relaxed experience away from the cruise ship day-trippers and crowds.
